Intelligent Devices

Distributed Embedded Software, Object Oriented Design, Edge AI, Internet of Things
Content

The Intelligent Devices semester focuses on the critical role of embedded systems and distributed computing in modern technology. With a strong emphasis on topics such as distributed systems, vehicle control systems, AI-driven embedded devices and IoT innovations, this course explores how interconnected systems enhance efficiency, scalability, and real-time decision-making across various industries.

Key Learning Goals:

  • Distributed Systems & Communication – Develop scalable and interconnected embedded solutions for real-world applications. Learn to make well-considered decisions about communication models.
  • Professional Software Design – Gain expertise in objected-oriented system development using C++, a widely used language in embedded systems.
  • Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) – Understand time-sensitive computing, multithreading and synchronisation which are increasingly important in the modern industry applications.
  • Embedded Systems Programming – Develop software for resource-constrained environments, ensuring reliability and performance. Explore an embedded topic of your choice, like feedback control systems, edge AI, or embedded security.

By the end of the semester, students will have both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to design and implement intelligent, distributed embedded systems that drive the future high-tech innovations.

Activities

Throughout the semester, you’ll engage in workshops that provide practical, hands-on experience in key semester topics. These workshops lay the foundation for exciting projects, where you’ll apply your knowledge both individually and in teams.

One of the highlights is the industry project, developed in close collaboration with a leading high-tech embedded software company. This gives you a unique opportunity to tackle real-world challenges while gaining valuable industry insights.

Beyond the structured projects, you’ll have access to a wide range of materials and project ideas. However, creativity is highly encouraged—you’re free to explore and develop your own innovative and inspiring concepts to push the boundaries of high-tech innovations.
