Game Development

Game Engine Exploration, Playful Interaction & Scripting
Content

Game Development lets you apply your ICT skills in the most fun and interactive field of all: games!

This semester introduces you to software development using industry-standard game engines. You build confidence in core programming principles while building game mechanics and experiencing playful interactions.

After starting with the best game development practices and patterns, you’ll then get to choose between many of the facets of game development, such as: input systems, shaders, 2d and 3d assets handling and creation, animation, VR integration, and simple game AI.

Activities

This is a new semester in September 2025, so the concrete planning will become available during in the coming months.

Inflow & Outflow

All semester 1 profiles are welcome, though a keen interest in or knowledge of games will make for a smoother experience.

This semester is part of a three-semester track. We suggest directly following up with the Game Design semester to dive deeper into the craft of designing and developing games from scratch. Then you can take up Game Production towards the end of your studies.

Game development is both technically challenging and reliant on good insights into the user experience. Therefore, any user experience of software-oriented topic could also be logical next steps.
