Academic Preparation

This semester is dedicated for students who are interested in a Master at the TU/e or at the JADS. The main benefit for you is that you can immediately start your Master programme at the TU/e or JADS after your Bachelor graduation at Fontys.

However, this semester is also recommened for students who want to study more fundamental and abstract computer science subjects. This will benefit any career in ICT. In that case, it is even possible to do Academic Preparation in the Free Study Area of semester 7, without the follow-up pre-master. The semester does not count as a minor, so it can be combined with a minor in semester 4.

The student should realise that this semester (and the accompanying pre-masters) has a higher study load and abstraction level than some regular bachelor of IT routes.

When you have completed this semester, you can consider the following academic premasters in your free study area.

• Data Science & Artificial Intelligence

To participate in Academic Preparation please contact the pre-master coordinator in an early stage.

The program consists of the following courses:

• logic & set theory
• automata & formal languages
• linear algebra
• statistics
• functional programming
• data science
• data structures & algorithms

As there is a lot of programming in this semester, we advise students from to validate that they have sufficient software skills.
