This minor offers you the opportunity to explore virtual production technologies in a well equipped production studio. Here you will work with real-time rendering, LED volumes, and camera tracking. While collaborating in a multidisciplinary team (for example, alongside IT professionals, actors, camera operators, filmmakers, and all other essential production staff), developing skills for future-oriented and sustainable productions in film, marketing, and visualization. In doing so, you will delve into the world of immersive, efficient and sustainable content creation techniques.

Programme

Courses

You will learn the foundations of Virtual Production through engaging courses. From mastering real-time rendering in Unreal Engine to understanding LED volumes and camera tracking, you’ll gain the knowledge needed to start working on your own project during these workshops.

Challenges

Explore the practical side of Virtual Production through exciting challenges. These smaller team-based projects allow you to collaborate with students from various disciplines and experiment with immersive technologies. Develop the skills learned during workshops while preparing for real-world production scenarios.

Project

Assessment of the minor is based on an industry-related project. Work with companies, research teams, or creative organizations on real-life issues. Tailor your project to the area of Virtual Production that excites you most, whether it's film, marketing or visualization — the choice is yours!

After the minor

Upon successfully completing the minor, you’ll have the skills to apply Virtual Production in practice. With hands-on experience in cutting-edge techniques, you’ll be ready to innovate in fields such as film, gaming and marketing.

Entry requirements

To be admitted to this minor you need to have completed your propedeuse. In addition you need to demonstrate the following interests and/or skills:

  • Basic knowledge of 3D-software and video editing tools (e.g. non-linear editing tools).
  • Affinity with technologies that create a bridge between physical and digital production environments.
  • Basic knowledge of programming is recommended but not required
  • A good foundation of the English language

These entry requirements are tested (after submitting the application) by means of cover letter and CV sent to the minor coordinator.

If you have attended the main semester “Media Creation” as part of the Fontys ICT bachelor, you are not eligible to apply for this minor.
